Adapt the working spaces in such a way to minimise the unnecessary exposure of people to the risks related to the usage of the press. Position the press away from a passage way, preferably in a corner.

Some of the risks related to the use of the press: breaking of pieces, spatting of splinters, cracking or flying parts.

Train your staff in the usage of the equipment and make them aware of the risks. Make the usage of protective gear obligatory, such as safety shoes, and protection goggles.

Some recommendations:

• Place the pieces in a stable way, by using wedges or supports.
• Engage your pieces perpendicularly to the fitting after having covered them with a thin layer of grease.
• Observe the increase of pressure by keeping an eye on the pressure gauge. An (excessive) increase in pressure without movement of the handle is the result of jamming or blocking. Analyse or check rather than proceed.
• Don't exceed the maximum pressure indicated.
• If equipped with two speed modes, use the fast mode only for the run-up. Only use the slow mode for putting on pressure.
