Instructions for use

Normally used prior to chlorination of water, as a part of a process to reduce raw water turbidity

Choosing the correct coagulant depends on the raw water's pH. See in the book "Public Health Engineering in Precarious Situations" for more information, or contact your WHS technical referent if in doubt. PAX XL- 10 provides the best effects with raw water of a pH range between 5 and 10.

Before application, refer to your WHS technical referent for precise user instructions.

In addition to that, polymer coagulants are to be used for drinking water production as per the procedures described in "Public Health Engineering in Precarious Situations", MSF, 2nd edition, 2010, chapter T.B. 2.16 Assisted batch sedimentation.

The polymer coagulant should be dosed straight undiluted into the water to be treated. Therefore the practise of preparing a 1% stock (or mother) solution that is recommended for other coagulants is forbidden when using polymer coagulants.

If unsure of what quantity of PAX-XL10 should be used to treat water, a modified version of the Jar test described in "Public Health Engineering in Precarious Situations", MSF, 2nd edition, 2010: chapter T.B. 2.15 Jar test for coagulants, can be carried out. Contact you WHS technical referent for more details.

Precautions for Use

Consult the product's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before using it.

Wear gloves, suitable eye protection and gumboots when using PAX XL- 10.

Storage

  • Keep at temperatures above 0 °C and below 30 °C in a well ventilated space.
  • Avoid storing with chlorites, hypochlorites, sulphites, galvanized surfaces, iron, strong bases.
  • Store separately from food and beverage.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.

Waste management

Contact your WHS technical referent for disposal of expired or damaged batches of polymer coagulants.
