Synonym: Micro-enema

Therapeutic Action

Osmotic laxative, enema containing sodium lauryl sulphoacetate, sodium citrate, glycerol (and/or sorbitol).

Sodium citrate is a ‘peptizing' agent which liberates water present in the
faeces. Sorbitol enhances this action. Sodium lauryl sulphoacetate is a
wetting agent. Glycerol promotes peristalsis and evacuation of the lower
bowel.

Symptomatic treatment of occasional constipation in adults

Instructions for use

5 ml single-dose container with nozzle removable cap

Must be given by rectal route:

  • Pull or twist the cap off the tube.
  • Insert full length of the nozzle into the rectum
  • Gently squeeze the tube until it is empty.
  • Remove the cannula without releasing the pressure on the tube.
  • Wait for the laxative to work (5-15 min).

Combine the treatment with hygienic and dietary measures (vegetable fibre and drink diet, physical activity).

Precautions for Use

Avoid in cases of haemorrhoidal eruptions, anal fissures or haemorrhagic rectocolitis.

Do not use in children under 3 years of age.
