Definition

Polyvitalex growth supplement (Vitox) is a sterile lyophilised concentrate of essential growth factors and is used to prepare PVX-Chocolate agar. This media supports the growth of fastidious organisms (when incubated in a 5% CO2 atmosphere) due to the presence of X and V factor.

  • Adenine 10.0mg
  • Guanine 0.3mg
  • p-Aminobenzoic acid 0.13mg
  • L-cystine 11.0mg
  • NAD (Coenzyme 1) 2.5mg
  • Cocarboxylase 1.0mg
  • Ferric nitrate 0.2mg
  • Thiamine 0.03mg
  • Cysteine hydrochloride 259.0mg

Composition of the rehydration fluid :

  • Glucose 1 g
  • Distilled water 10 ml

Technical specifications

  • Colour of the pellet is pink and rehydration fluid colourless

Precautions for Use

All biological samples must be considered as potentially infectious and handled with the usual precautions (compulsory wearing of gloves, hand washing, etc.)

Storage

  • Store between 2°C and 8°C (before and after reconstitution).
  • To be used within 7 days after reconstitution.
  • Shelf life: 24 months.
  • Guaranteed minimum remaining shelf life at delivery: 1/3 of the total shelf life.

Waste management

After use, sterilize the cultures and all contaminated material. Please contact your watsan referent for advice on proper disposal.
