TEST CONCENTRATION NaOCL, HTH, NaDCC, bleach (WataTest) 50ml

Definition

Test to determine the concentration of active chlorine in solutions (Cl , HOCl, OCl-) in grams per litre, ranging between 1 to 7 g/l (0.1 to 0.7% active chlorine and 0.32 to 2.23 °Cl). Measurement accuracy is ± 0.5 g/l.

The WataTest® reagent can measure concentration of chlorine solutions made from different solutions such as NaDCC, HTH, bleaching powder and bleach.

Specifications

The WataTest® test set contains:

  • a 50 ml bottle of WataTest™ reagent
  • a 20 ml measuring spoon
  • a 3 ml pipette
  • a 1 ml syringe
  • an user manual

Instructions for use

The ideal result should be around 6 g/l, maximum 7g/l. If you obtain a different concentration, make sure you adjust the dilution of the solution.

Always use a clean, dry syringe to collect the WataTest® reagent!

Steps for testing:

  • thoroughly mix the concentrated solution to be tested
  • using the plastic pipette, collect exactly 2 ml of the concentrated solution, and place that amount in a dosing spoon, or the small container with a white base
  • shake the bottle of the WataTest® reagent
  • fill the syringe with the WataTest® reagent and be ready to count the number of drops that will be used
  • holding the syringe vertically, let the WataTest® reagent fall one drop at a time into the dosing spoon or the small container with a white base and count the number of drops added while gently shaking until the solution changes colour permanently
  • divide the number of drops by 2 to obtain the concentration in grams per litre (e.g. : 12 drops = 6 g/l)
  • shake gently after adding each drop; if the solution in the dosing spoon or small container turns light-coloured again, add one more drop, repeating until the colour change no longer reverses

Storage

  • store the WataTest® reagent away from light and at room temperature (approximately 25°C)
  • carefully close the reagent bottle after each use in order to prevent the liquid from oxidising
  • do not exceed the expiration date shown on the WataTest® bottle label

Contact your WatSan or Environmental Health technical referent for disposal of expired WataTest® reagents.
