Indications

Treatment of snakebite envenomations from species found in Southern and Central Africa:

  • Puff adder (Bitis arietans)
  • Gaboon adder (Bitis gabonica)
  • Rinkhals (Haemachatus haemachatus)
  • Green mamba (Dendroaspis angusticeps)
  • Jameson's mamba (Dendroaspis jamesoni)
  • Black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis)
  • Cape cobra (Naja nivea)
  • Forest cobra (Naja melanoleuca)
  • Snouted Cobra or Egyptian cobra (Naja annulifera)
  • Mozambique spitting cobra (Naja Mossambica)

Not effective against bites caused by berg adder (Bitis atropos), many-horned adder (Bitis cornuta), horned adder (Bitis caudalis), night adders (Causus sp), Atractaspis sp and Boomslang (Dispholidus typus).

Instructions for use

10 ml ampoule

Must be given as IM or IV infusion (in 0.9% NaCl or 5% dextrose).

The minimum dose in case of envenomation is 3 ampoules.

Precautions for Use

Appropriate medical treatment should always be readily available in case of anaphylactic reactions following the administration of the product.

Storage

  • Keep refrigerated between 2ºC and 8ºC
  • Do not freeze.
