Indications
This module is designed to provide primary health care for 1,000 people for 3 months in the early phase of an emergency situation. It is intended for primary healthcare facilities, or ambulatory (outpatients) services within higher-level facilities..
Specifications
The basic module contains articles appropriate for use, services and staffing at Primary Health Care levels, or outpatient services.
It comprises medicines and medical equipment that correspond generally to the level and training of nurses and community health care workers.
The selection of medicines is limited to oral medicines and only one antibiotic (amoxicillin tablet). It does not include any injectable medicines. It is accompanied by simple treatment guidelines in English, French, and Spanish.
Components
The basic module is divided into 3 units to be ordered separately:
- KMEDMBAS05A = 1 basic unit containing medicines and renewable supplies
- KMEDMBAS05E = 1 basic unit containing equipment and stationary
- KMEDMBAS05M = 1 specific basic unit containing malaria rapid tests and antimalarial medicines: this unit is NOT included in the basic unit (= unit KMEDMBAS05A) and must be ordered separately if needed. The brand of malaria rapid test will depend on your ESC (European Supply Centre). Please verify the malaria RDT available in your project.
This module is part of the Interagency Emergency Health Kit 2024 (IEHK) developed by international agencies (UNHCR, UNFPA UNICEF, WHO, ICRC) in collaboration with NGOs (MSF…).
Warning
- Alcohol-based hand-rub and surgical masks/respirators are not included in the module. These articles need to be procured locally or ordered separately.
- Condoms are not included in the module. Do not forget to order them following the WHO formula: 25,000 for 10,000 people/month.
