KIT, INTERAGENCY EMERGENCY HEALTH 2024
In 2024, the WHO finalized and introduced the new Interagency Emergency Health Kit to replace the 2018 version. MSF has chosen to deviate slightly by compiling its own version:
- The NCD (non-communicable diseases) module, which contains insulins, will be optional and will not distributed to all contexts.
- The rapid diagnostic HIV tests are proposed as an option in line with MSF's recommendations for Post Exposure Prophylaxis after Accidental Exposure to Blood or Body Fluids.
- Due to sourcing issue, Biperiden injectable will not be included in the SUPPLEMENTARY MODULE. As advised by the Mental Health WG, diazepam injectable (already included in the regulated medicines unit) may serve as a temporary alternative.
Indications
The Interagency Emergency Health Kit 2024 (IEHK 2024) is mainly designed to provide health care to 10,000 people for 3 months in the early phase of an emergency situation.
The term "emergency" is applied to various situations resulting from natural, politica,l and economic disasters.
Specifications
The IEHK is structured in a modular way, including 10 basic modules for use by health-care workers in primary health care settings (or for primary services that may also be provided at hospital levels) and a supplementary module for use by physicians or health-care workers with specific training at hospitals setting.
