BASIC UNIT, 1 000 persons/3 months 2024

Indications

Supplies for a dispensary run by a health worker serving a displaced population.

Specifications

Components

This basic dispensary kit contains medicines and medical equipment which can be used by an unsupervised health worker, who may or may not have received special training.

The range of drugs is limited: it contains only one antibiotic (amoxicillin in tablet) and no injectable medicines. It is accompanied by simple treatment guidelines in English, French and Spanish.

This kit is designed to provide health care for 1,000 displaced people for 3 months without impinging on the existing health facilities in the receiving area.

The basic unit is divided into 3 modules to be ordered separately:

  • KMEDMBAS05A = 1 basic module containing medicines and renewable supplies
  • KMEDMBAS05E = 1 basic module containing equipment and stationary
  • KMEDMBAS05M = 1 specific module containing malaria rapid tests and antimalarial medicines: this module is NOT included in the basic module (= module KMEDMBAS05A) and must be ordered separately if required. The brand of malaria rapid test will depend on your ESC (European Supply Centre). Please confirm which malaria RDT you have in your project.

The kit is part of the Interagency Emergency Health Kit 2024 (IEHK) developed by international agencies (UNHCR, UNFPA UNICEF, WHO, ICRC) together with NGO's (MSF…).

Warning

  • Alcohol-based hand-rub and surgical masks/respirators are not included in the kit. These articles need to be procured locally or ordered separately.
  • Condoms are not included in the kit. Do not forget to order them following the WHO formula: 25,000 for 10,000 people/month.

CHANGE ORDERING: To order this complete basic kit, you need to order the basic module KMEDMBAS05A, the equipment module KMEDMBAS05E and the antimalarial module KMEDMBAS05M!
