SOLAR REGULATOR (Victron SS MPPT RS 450/100-MC4) 100A, 48V

Form

A solar regulator connects the output of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels to a battery system. It adapts the voltage-current levels at the input to the battery voltage, thus protecting the battery from overloading. The built-in maximum power tracker (MPPT) ensures that the maximum solar power available is used to charge the battery.
This is a Smartsolar solar regulator, this model of regulators has a built-in Bluetooth capability.

Specifications:

  • nominal system/battery voltage: 48 V
  • charge current rating: max. 100 A
  • max. PV Voc voltage:450 V
  • max. PV Isc current: 20 A per tracker
  • number of trackers: 2
  • PV terminal connectors: with MC4 connectors
  • temperature range: -40 to + 60°C (fan supportive cooling)
  • dimensions (HxWxD): 440 x 313 x 126 m
  • weight: 7.9 kg

Per piece.

Fit

The‌ solar regulator fits with solar panels up to 450 V (Voc), 2 PV trackers, 20A per tracker.20A

The regulator can be used in systems with battery voltages of 48 V.

This solar regulator is with MC4 connectors to connect solar panels.

As communication inferfaces VE.Direct and Bluetooth are available options. This allows to connect with applications for configuration and data monitoring. Moreover it allows to connect the solar regulator with other Victron devices, like GX-controllers, and integrate it in more sophisticated systems.

Function

The basic function of a solar regulator is to control the input voltage and current from the PV solar panels in a way that batteries can be charged with their correct voltage. So it keeps batteries from overcharging.

Additionally, the MPPT converter allows to regulate the input voltage at a level where PV solar panels produce the maximum power. This so-called Maximum Power Point (MPP) is adjusted dynamically according to instant solar radiation.

A wired communication interface (VE.Direct) is available in all chargers. Via this interface the configuration of the device can be done. Additionally the charger can be connected with the Internet and the Victron Portal. And it can be connected to other Victron equipment to built up more sophisticated energy storage/distribution systems.

The SmartSolar version of this device has a built-in Bluetooth capability. Via wireless communication actual data can be monitored on a smartphone or a tablet.
