MSF requirements

  • solid, stable and comfortable
  • minimal weight and volume to enable international transport
  • easy to disinfect
  • easy to set up and dismount
  • multiple uses: adapted for children and adults (and by request also for routine patient treatments)

Possible alternative

An existing hospital bed can be made into a cholera bed using a "Ferari" canvas. Obviously this approach is less thorough and cheaper (+/- 15 €), but the availability is not always possible. Contact your water & sanitation officer for more information.
