Precautions for Use
- The use of pressure fuel can cause severe accidents: fires, burns, explosions. Provide a fire extinguisher or a sand bucket near by.
- Use only kerosene (lamp oil), NEVER PETROL (very dangerous) !
NB: In French, petrol is called "essence" and kerosene (lamp oil) is called "pétrole (lampant)".
- Never try to light the burner in a small camping tent (or in the MSF-B office)!
Maintenance
- Check the level of fuel before each use and let the burner cool down before refilling the tank. A too low level of fuel can cause overheating of the burner.
- Clean the nozzle regularly using the pricker supplied with the burner. Grease the leather washer of the pump barrel once a week.
MSF requirements
Suffficient autonomy for 1 full sterilization cycle with the 90 litres autoclave.
Security and reliability: this burner offers good heating power, with very low fire risk.
Alternative to the gas burner (see related articles below).
