Indications

Suspicion of meningitis epidemics.

Specifications

This module contains the equipment necessary to carry out the rapid meningitis tests.

The centrifuge and the warm-water bath should be ordered separately if necessary (see related articles below). In case of electricity break-down, use a manual centrifuge and boil water in a pan.

The rapid test included in the module is the Pastorex® test which detects:

  • Meningococcus A, B, C, Y/W135
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B

This module should be completed by the KMEDMLAB118 which allows carrying out lumbar punctures, and by the KMEDMLAB1201A for sending the samples.
