Therapeutic Action
Inhibition of production of thyroid hormones
Carbimazole is a pro-drug that is converted into the active form, methimazole, after absorption. Methimazole inhibits the thyroid peroxidase enzyme from coupling and iodinating the tyrosine residues on thyroglobulin. This process reduces the production of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4 (thyroxine).

Instructions for use
It should only be used if regular laboratory monitoring of thyroid function is available.
Precautions for Use
Do not administer during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Contraindication: severe blood disorders
Stop immediately the administration if there is clinical or laboratory evidence of
neutropenia.
