To ensure a smooth transition between both artesunate formulations (DINJART6V- and DINJARTS6V3), estimate the forecast and assess the manufacturer's production capacity, this product is reserved for Nigeria, CAR and DRC missions for one year.

Instructions for use

Combi-pack including:

  • 1 powder vial containing 60 mg of artesunate
  • 1 ampoule with 3 ml of 0.84% (8.4mg/ml) sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) + 2% (20mg/ml) arginine for reconstitution

The new artesunate formulation eliminates the need for separate reconstitution and dilution of the powder. It simplifies and speeds up administration, reducing the risk of preparation errors.

ARTESUNATE 60 mg with arginine (DINJARTS6V3), uses the same weight-based dosing as ARTESUNATE 60 mg without arginine (DINJARTS6V-).

Must be given as a slow IV or IM injection.

Remark: The missions should first finish the remaining stock of artesunate without arginine (DINJARTS6V-) before ordering this new formulation. Having both formulations simultaneously at field level is discouraged.

Precautions for Use

Never administer by IV infusion.

Do not reconstitute the artesunate powder with water for injection. Use the diluents provided in the 3 ml ampoule.

Storage

  • Below 25ºC - Protect from sunlight
  • After reconstitution, use the solution immediately.
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
